First day of school. These were actually the end of August but oh well. Alex starting kindergarten and Ayden entering 2nd grade.
Laela had a hard time seeing them go and not being able to join them. She tried to get on the bus everyday for the first couple of weeks and wore a backback nonstop everywhere we went.
One of the highlights of September was the trip to Block Island, RI for Hillary and Stephens wedding celebration. Back when they were planning on getting married in NYC they only wanted a family celebration instead of a reception. They had planned that we would all travel to RI after the wedding and enjoy a weekend on the amazing island of Block. Since it was all booked even though they got married earlier we still went to RI. Brad and I got to go childless (everyone else did too except my brother with my little two month old niece) thanks to our friends and had an amazing time. We spend the first evening in NY and stayed at Hill and Stephens apartment and then early the next morning met up with everyone and drove out two 15 passenger vans to RI. We took a ferry to the island and from there just had a blast playing at the beach, going on runs, riding bikes and mopeds exploring the little island, we got ice cream two times a day and really had fun getting to know each other. We had a clam back on the beach that didn't end so well as nothing cooked and had to carry everything back to the house to cook in the kitchen. It was quite an adventure that we will remember always. We had an interesting discussion about the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus led by Stephens father, we had our own church service with talks and musical numbers. It was such a nice weekend that was really so relaxing with out kids to feed, dress, clean up after, put to bed etc. One of my favorite times ever!
