I'm Back

Wow, I don't really know what happened to me but there was a while there where I wasn't at all interested in posting a blog. Part of it is because I decided I hate blogger's picture down-loader. After Christmas my sister told me to download the Christmas pictures on to facebook really quick before I did a blog so she could see them faster. I had never downloaded pictures on facebook before and I couldn't believe how much easier it is! It made me really hate how slow blogger is and it kind of turned me off of blogger. I just couldn't bring myself to taking the time to download pictures after I learned how easy it could be. I like posting pictures with my blog and not just writing. I know a lot of people apologize when there are a lot of pictures in their post but what the heck are they apologizing for? Don't most people prefer pictures over words? I do. Unless they have a talent for writing I guess. Which I don't so I just figure everyone would rather look at pictures and then I add in some writing for journal purposes. Anyway, I suppose enough time has passed that I will deal with the pain in the butt photo down loader and do a blog. I just really hope they can get a better system soon.

We had a great Christmas and New Years and I have a ton to post on that but I will get to all of that another time. I decided to blog what we have done recently first. The girls and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Texas visiting my brother Kyle's family. We had not seen each other for over a year and it was time to get the cousins together (the adults too of course). My sister, Hillary, flew out from New York to spend time in Texas as well. My parents flew us out for one of our Christmas presents and I can't think of anything that would have been better. Brad stayed home and worked and also got to host my Dad who came up for a dentist appointment and his sister and brother in law who came up to pick up a motorbike they bought here so he wasn't too lonely. We had a really great time in Texas and I am really glad we went. Thanks so much Mom and Dad for getting us there and Kyle and Laura for a wonderful trip!

Ayden in the airplane on our way to Texas. Excited and happy despite waking up at 4:30 am to catch our flight.

Alex on the other hand needed a little nap. She was actually awake the whole way and then decided to fall asleep right as we were landing.

Janelle, Ayden, Alex and Spencer picnicking at a park soaking up some sun rays.
It was so wonderful getting to spend time in warm , sunny Dallas because we hadn't seen the sun for a couple of weeks because of an inversion in Boise.

Laura , myself and Hillary enjoying the sun and time with eachother.

Pretty Alex.

Pretty Laura.

The kids enjoying their ice cream at a fun little parlor in Denton after visiting my brother at his new office at the University of Northern Texas.

Laura, Kyle and Hillary enjoying their ice cream.
We had fun swimming at Laura's parents house. We also played rock band.

Of course throughout the week there were some moments like this....

...but we will always remember the cute moments like this.

Alex and Spencer holding hands in down town McKinney after we took a little trip to a cute popcorn and candy store called The MOM and POPcorn Company.

Our last lunch together.
We picked Janelle up from school and went to lunch before we headed off to the airport.
Alex sure enjoyed her Cheetos.

The flight home from Dallas to Salt Lake City was really beautiful. Ayden and I had fun looking at the pillow of clouds below us with the bright sun rays illuminating their texture.

Alex was asleep before we even took off and slept for a good 2 hours of the flight which was nice.

Unfortunately our flight took off late from Dallas due to getting all the way to the runway and then being alerted that the door wasn't shut properly so we had to go all the way back to the gate and have it fixed. We got into SLC at 4:45 (35 minutes late) and we had a connecting flight to Boise at 5:00 at the completely opposite side of the airport. We had to go all way to E72 from B8 if anyone knows the SLC airport. So anyway, we got off and started our journey when the girls both started throwing fits. They wouldn't walk fast with me, or hold my hand or each others. Alex would go limp and throw herself on the floor every time I tried to pick her up or hold her hand and Ayden would just stop, cross her arms and refuse to go any further. So here I was seven months pregnant with three bags and two screaming, crying girls running across the airport trying to make my flight. I wasn't surprised by all the dirty looks I got but I was surprised that no one even attempted to help. There were even two soldiers on my first flight trying to get to the same flight I was that just ran by me as they told me good luck. When I got to the gate and was told I had just missed the flight and that they bumped me to the 7:45 flight I just started crying. I couldn't help it. The worst part was that it was an awful cry. I was hot sweaty and out of breath trying to hold in a cry so I just kept bursting into these awful sobs and then trying to stop again which caused an loud squeak and another awful burst and then some regular sobs. The whole time the girls are looking up at me with those confused eyes asking me why I was crying and if I was okay. "Did you get hurt mommy?" "It's okay." "Why are you crying?" It was embarrassing to say the least.

After I got myself under control the girls and I went to spend the $42 in meal vouchers they gave us. We went to Burger King (where Ayden managed to spill a whole container of milk on herself and across the floor), pizza and TCBY ice cream during the three hours we spent waiting. The girls also enjoyed a game of ping pong (with a toy from burger king) across the terminal getting in everyone's way and crawling under their seats to find the ball but I really didn't care. We finally caught our flight home and it was pretty uneventful except for the time the girls started singing the Star Wars song (bum-bum-bum-bu-bu-bum-bu-bu-bum) as everyone was boarding and the time I spilled a water bottle all over my bag soaking the books, magazines and coloring books I had. We got to Boise a little after 9:00 pm (three hours after we were supposed to) where the girls ran up to their Dad with big hugs very excited to see him. After a little trouble finding our bags (the bags were able to catch the flight that we missed) we got home.

We walked into the door with Ayden fast asleep and all I could think about was my bed. That didn't last long (about 30 seconds) because before I could even get my shoes and coat off Alex tripped over my leg and hit her head on her bed creating a gash in her forehead. I couldn't believe the blood gushing everywhere. It covered her eye and was running into her ear and mouth and I had no idea how big the cut was because there was so much blood. After holding a compress on it while she screamed and thrashed around in my arms I took a look at her cut which seemed small compared to the blood that had come out of it. But after turning the light on we saw why. It was super deep. Our great friend Elizabeth was able to come over to be with Ayden while we took Alex to the emergency room. I think they panicked a little as I carried a limp (because she fell asleep in the car on the way there) bloody little girl into the room because it looked a lot worse then it was on first observation. She ended up getting it numbed cleaned out and glued shut. After getting home passed midnight we could finally crawl into our beds and sleep. What a day.

Daddy with his girls this morning taking some time to chill, happy to all be together again.

Once again thanks so much to Mom and Dad and Kyle and Laura for a great trip!
