We had a great Christmas and New Years and I have a ton to post on that but I will get to all of that another time. I decided to blog what we have done recently first. The girls and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Texas visiting my brother Kyle's family. We had not seen each other for over a year and it was time to get the cousins together (the adults too of course). My sister, Hillary, flew out from New York to spend time in Texas as well. My parents flew us out for one of our Christmas presents and I can't think of anything that would have been better. Brad stayed home and worked and also got to host my Dad who came up for a dentist appointment and his sister and brother in law who came up to pick up a motorbike they bought here so he wasn't too lonely. We had a really great time in Texas and I am really glad we went. Thanks so much Mom and Dad for getting us there and Kyle and Laura for a wonderful trip!

It was so wonderful getting to spend time in warm , sunny Dallas because we hadn't seen the sun for a couple of weeks because of an inversion in Boise.

Alex was asleep before we even took off and slept for a good 2 hours of the flight which was nice.
Unfortunately our flight took off late from Dallas due to getting all the way to the runway and then being alerted that the door wasn't shut properly so we had to go all the way back to the gate and have it fixed. We got into SLC at 4:45 (35 minutes late) and we had a connecting flight to Boise at 5:00 at the completely opposite side of the airport. We had to go all way to E72 from B8 if anyone knows the SLC airport. So anyway, we got off and started our journey when the girls both started throwing fits. They wouldn't walk fast with me, or hold my hand or each others. Alex would go limp and throw herself on the floor every time I tried to pick her up or hold her hand and Ayden would just stop, cross her arms and refuse to go any further. So here I was seven months pregnant with three bags and two screaming, crying girls running across the airport trying to make my flight. I wasn't surprised by all the dirty looks I got but I was surprised that no one even attempted to help. There were even two soldiers on my first flight trying to get to the same flight I was that just ran by me as they told me good luck. When I got to the gate and was told I had just missed the flight and that they bumped me to the 7:45 flight I just started crying. I couldn't help it. The worst part was that it was an awful cry. I was hot sweaty and out of breath trying to hold in a cry so I just kept bursting into these awful sobs and then trying to stop again which caused an loud squeak and another awful burst and then some regular sobs. The whole time the girls are looking up at me with those confused eyes asking me why I was crying and if I was okay. "Did you get hurt mommy?" "It's okay." "Why are you crying?" It was embarrassing to say the least.
After I got myself under control the girls and I went to spend the $42 in meal vouchers they gave us. We went to Burger King (where Ayden managed to spill a whole container of milk on herself and across the floor), pizza and TCBY ice cream during the three hours we spent waiting. The girls also enjoyed a game of ping pong (with a toy from burger king) across the terminal getting in everyone's way and crawling under their seats to find the ball but I really didn't care. We finally caught our flight home and it was pretty uneventful except for the time the girls started singing the Star Wars song (bum-bum-bum-bu-bu-bum-bu-bu-bum) as everyone was boarding and the time I spilled a water bottle all over my bag soaking the books, magazines and coloring books I had. We got to Boise a little after 9:00 pm (three hours after we were supposed to) where the girls ran up to their Dad with big hugs very excited to see him. After a little trouble finding our bags (the bags were able to catch the flight that we missed) we got home.
We walked into the door with Ayden fast asleep and all I could think about was my bed. That didn't last long (about 30 seconds) because before I could even get my shoes and coat off Alex tripped over my leg and hit her head on her bed creating a gash in her forehead. I couldn't believe the blood gushing everywhere. It covered her eye and was running into her ear and mouth and I had no idea how big the cut was because there was so much blood. After holding a compress on it while she screamed and thrashed around in my arms I took a look at her cut which seemed small compared to the blood that had come out of it. But after turning the light on we saw why. It was super deep. Our great friend Elizabeth was able to come over to be with Ayden while we took Alex to the emergency room. I think they panicked a little as I carried a limp (because she fell asleep in the car on the way there) bloody little girl into the room because it looked a lot worse then it was on first observation. She ended up getting it numbed cleaned out and glued shut. After getting home passed midnight we could finally crawl into our beds and sleep. What a day.

OK there was one picture after "Pretty Alex" and "Pretty Laura" that should have been labeld "Pretty Jenni & Ayden".
I also suspect those military guys were on standby and they probably got your seats to Boise. I hope that isn't why they were rude and didn't help a pregnant Mom with 2 little kids. I hope Ayden and Alex remember this trip. It was well worth it to get all of you together!Love, Dad
All I have to say is, oh. my. goodness. I can't believe the afternoon and night you had yesterday! I hope the rest of your week is filled with long leisurely naps, chocolate, and no more falls! After Kyle called your mom this morning and he was telling me what happened, I asked him, "Are you sure she said Alex fell and not Ayden?" (After her three falls yesterday morning!) Poor Alex. Give her a hug from Aunt Laura! I'm SO SO glad you guys all got to come out, it just made my week! We all miss you already!
Wow, what a day you had. I would have cried as well. There is nothing worse then missing a connecting flight, and having to wait in an airport..with little kids. I am impressed you did that all by yourself. You are brave. I am curious though, did the military guys make the flight? I am glad you had a fun trip. My family has been telling me about the awful inversion in Boise. I remember that growing up, and I do not miss it one bit. It may be freezing here in Idaho Falls, but at least we don't get the inversion. I hope things are well with you. When are you due?
Hey Jen. Love the red hair! You are pretty amazing for getting through all that. I would have completely broke down!
For those wondering (dad and brooke), the soldiers did not make the flight either so it wouldn't have made a difference if they helped or not but the gesture would have still been appreciated.
Laura, I thought the same thing about Alex gashing her head and not Ayden. After the day Ayden had it would have made sense that it was her.
Brooke, yeah the inversion thing here is no fun. It is a bit better now that we are back but we will see how long that lasts. My induction date is April 2nd but I am in no hurry for this little one to come out since I know they are easier in then out. :)
You're back! And that was quite the post. Gees, poor Alex did not look good!
I am so with you on posting pictures on blogger. I always have to upload one photo at a time, or the pictures won't post. That's why I only ever post a few pictures - it just isn't worth it.
I did look at your pictures on facebook though, so I don't feel completely disconnected.
Now how about some pregnancy photos?
I didn't mean to, but I laughed a good laugh reading your crying story. I traveled so many times with Easton all in a rush hurrying to flights, carrying bags and an infant, finally sitting on the plane and not being able to breathe. I would have done the same thing if I were you. i even got searched one time which made me miss my flight because I had hairspray in my suitcase. Nobody seems to care about the poor mom with kids in her hand just trying to catch a plane home.
Glad to hear from you Jenni, I was missing your posts so don't give up on blogging. Sorry about the airport, I totally know what you mean. I traveled with 3 kids and pragnant and missed a flight so I had a 7 hour wait, so much fun. Luckily when you get home and are rested it was still worth it to visit family.
Sorry about a rotten travel day and poor Alex. What a way to end the day. Hope you're all doing better now.
It was so good to see you guys over Christmas! You'll have to let us know the next time you're in Park City.
That is one crazy trip! I can just imagine. When you have little kids everything is so much harder, and being pregnant too. All I can say is WOW! You deserved a good cry, and I hope you get some rest too! It does look like you had fun too, but I bet you were exhausted!
Welcome back :) What a crazy trip home you had! I had an embarrassing cry one time when I was pregnant with Noah and traveling home from a business trip... I'd been delayed over and over and finally got on my plane only to have them announce we would be another hour delayed and I knew I wouldn't make my connection. I just wanted to get home and lost it (with that weird, trying to hold it in sob)! The lady sitting next to me must have thought I was crazy!
I seriously cannot believe all that happened to you! I can totally picture you running through the airport and then start sobbing...poor girl! And I can't believe that had to happen to Alex. That's one day you'll never forget! I'm glad you are back and back to normal life again! And you still look gorgeous in your pic at the hospital after such a loooonnngggg day!
I'm exhausted just reading this post!
oh jenny my heart goes out! i know those looks you get in the airport and poor little alex!!!...but really poor little prego jenny!!! love ya girl...memories!!!
