March 2011

Alex turned 5!  She had a couple of parties.  An early one with Dad during the weekend because he had to go back to Hanford, a little one with the Matthews on her actual bday and because she was turning 5 she had a friend party.  (We have friend parties at 5, 8, 12, and 16).
Her big gift was a cockatiel.  She had been asking for a bird for sometime and we decided to go ahead and give her one.  His name is Mumford.  He started out pretty nice but he is actually a pretty grumpy bird but we love him anyway.

We celebrated with some ice cream that night with the Matthews.

On her actual birthday we decided to have an easy cake and she enjoyed it just as much!

For her friend party she asked for a snake cake.  I found this idea online and it turned out really great.

The other big event that took place in March was that after 8 months of Brad working his butt off at Hanford and me working my butt off at home sticking to a budget and pinching everywhere we could we paid off all of our credit card debt! It was a very happy day and we couldn't believe we had done it as quick as we did.  I honestly thought it would take us 5 years.  We were determined to do it and once we made the decision that we would do it no matter what it took we were blessed beyond imaginable.  Our Heavenly Father definitely played a huge part in rewarding our strong desire and effort.
