Brad's company always does a summer work party that is usually something for families. This year they planned a really fun dinner at a Coolwater Creek Ranch in Meridian (used to be Bogus outfitters ranch). It was a beautiful evening and we had a great time. Not very many people showed up but we still enjoyed ourselves.
The funniest part of the evening was Laela deciding to take a bath in this tub of water. They had set it up with little squirting fish for kids to play with and I looked over and saw that Laela had gotten completely in the tub. Luckily our kids were pretty much the only kids so it wasn't a big deal that Laela decided to monopolize it. People got a pretty good kick out of her. She was hamming it up pretty good.
Her diaper was pretty bad when she got out.
Taking a wagon ride back to the cars.
Since we were in Utah most of the summer and other things got in the way we only made it on one family camping trip. We went to the baumgartner hot springs campground and had a really great time. We left pretty last minute without reservations and were really lucky to find an empty site. The ranger told us someone had it booked for that night but they had just left early because a bear came through their site and scared them off. It made us a little worried but we just made sure to be very careful with our food and not leave anything in our tents and have everything in our car. All night we heard bears, one set a car alarm off when a bear jumped into the bed of their truck and there were people and flash lights all night long. Getting up to pee in the middle of the night was pretty scary. Bears must have gone through our site but since we didn't leave anything for them they didn't stay long. Some other stupid campers left their cooler out and a bear ate all their bacon, ground beef and steaks and made a mess of their stuff.
They have a fun pool that is filled straight from natural hot springs.
We also played at the river and Brad had fun playing in the currents and jumping off this rock.
Alex is so funny when we camp. We have found her literally doing snow angels in the dirt, most of the time she is running around barefoot. She found this dead snake and was picking it up and everything. She also found a frog she played with.
River had fun. (this ended up being the last camping trip we got to take this little guy on. It breaks my heart to think about that.)
We were right by all these bushes which were along the river. I kept getting scared that a bear would just pop out and snatch one of the kids.
Can't have camping with out the guitar!
Sorry, just too funny...
Within 5 minutes of us arriving Laela fell and hit her head. IT was pretty bad but I was super grateful it didn't split open. This picture was a few days later when it was healing. We also enjoyed a fun little nature trail that explained things about the vegetation and animals in the area.
On our way home Brad had to find this huge tree he remembered from his childhood.
The camping trip was a success and laela is conked out.
August also included our 10 year anniversary backpacking trip to Mt. Rainier. It was the most amazing trip of our life. Brad and I had such a great time. Our friends and my parents were so great to each take the kiddos for part of the time. To blog that trip would take forever and I have made a blurb book all about it for Brad so I am not sure i will do any of it on the blog.

You kids are so lucky to have such fun parents...always a great adventure!
Holy moly, those pictures bring back memories! I'm so glad you guys got to go back to visit our old vacation stomping grounds. What happened to the bark on the biggest tree in the forest?

It was a trip full of memories. I was surprised I was able to find the "biggest tree in the Forrest". I have no idea what was up with bark. Seems like there had been a lot of activity in the area. I could drive right up to it and there were fallen branches all around.
