Recently Brad found a picture Ayden drew while we were cleaning up. When we looked at it I was a little concerned since it seemed like an angry picture. The people had mean faces and it looked like they were holding guns or swords and their hands were in fists. I thought back to psych 101 where you learn that what kids draw can be a direct correlation to how they are feeling. I thought about everything going on in her life to see if there was something she could be upset about...but I couldn't think about anything. So I took the picture to her and asked her to explain it to me. Turns out she just has a good imagination. With a pretty excited tone of voice she told me about a family who lived underground and it was dark so they needed flashlights (oh flashlights, she even drew the light coming out), there was a girl on top of the ground that was mad that she couldn't be underground too (explains that angry face), the mom was in a short part so she had to crawl, the girl was eating a cookie waiting for her mom (she pointed it out to me that you can tell it is a girl because she is wearing a bow), the dad was being brave and fighting off the bear (so that is a sword), and the families pet alligator was waiting for them to come play a game with him (the game is all set up). Goodness, I don't know why I didn't figure all that out by myself. I love the imaginations kids have.

It is a good thing you asked her what it was about...
one could be very concerned about what they could 'read' from the picture!
You have quite the imagination aydo potatoe!
Dad and I laughed out loud at this photo especially with the explanation. What an imagination. We get the part about dad and the bear but where on earth did the pet alligator come from. Ask her what books her teacher is reading in school. Remember Lyle, Lyle Crocodile?
Oh and be sure to save this for her!!
