Blogging Tips

Last night I went out with some friends for a ladies night and of course blogging came up. My friend Amy passed on some cool info that I thought was so cool so I am sharing it with all of you!
Do you know about google reader? Maybe I am behind and everyone else knows about this but if not I will tell you. You sign up with google reader and you copy and paste all of your friends blogs onto it and then when you want to check out the new posts from people you just log in to google reader and it tells you who has updated and how many times! That is right, no more scrolling through the list waisting time because most people have not updated. It is so cool. Check it out.

Also, my friend Sarah who doesn't have a blog and was feeling left out of the conversation ended up contributing the best information of all. I have often wondered how the best way would be to print off my blog since it is really my only journal and scrapbook. She told us about a site called Blurb that will turn your blog into a book. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable and they seemed really cool and good quality. How cool would it be to do it yearly and then have a yearly blog chronicle book. I can't wait to do it.

Muchas gracias for posting this info, because I had already forgotten both of those websites and was going to have to call Sarah and Amy! Hopefully we'll see you tonight at the ward party.

I love google reader too, it's great! I tried Blurb about 6 months ago and had tons of problems with it. It wouldn't let me place pictures and text where I wanted to and it took forever. I got so frustrated with it, I ended up copying our blog into shutterfly and just making a photo book (basically the same thing). Now I'm wondering if I was having so many problems because our computer is a mac and the program just doesn't work as well on them. Let me know if you try it and if it works alright for you.

It's Jeff Hodson's wife I just wanted to say Thanks for the tips I had no idea about either of those things either and have been blogging for a little over a year. I already checked out the blurb website and I can't wait to do it too. Thanks, great family pictures I love the ones of the girls.

Okay, so I took something into Joann's last night JUST to get matting with the fillets for my framed picture. JUST FOR THE FILLETS (which were nothing special, probably 1/4") around my 10"x18" picture they wanted $75!!!!!!!!!! That didn't include the matting. Is that right?

Leslee, that sounds about how much they would cost to have them done but it is certainly not close to what it costs them. When it comes to framing, the biggest markups are on fillets and mats. The reason behind that is because those things take the most talent to do so they mark them up about 600%. It is pretty ridiculous in my mind. I wish I could do it for you because with mat and all I could probably do it for $30 and still make a profit. If you can give me a good description of what you want with the dimensions I could do it for you and mail it to you if you want. Let me know.
